Under this head you will find writings by me or by others on theological, political, philosophical and contemporary subjects. Sermon manuscripts will also be posted here from time to time. I will try and provide a link to each below~and the articles will also appear under this head on the right side index.

I’m a new believer and only want to learn the truth. With so many denominations out there, it’s difficult to know which is correct. I am trying to study the whole bible, but felt it necessary to begin with Genesis. Got to the part about the commandments and where The Father talks about His feast days and the celebrations He wants his people to observe. So I asked myself, who are his people? When the people came out of Egypt, they were a mixed multitude, people from every nation that wanted to follow the one true God. So, I guess, I’m no different then them in that I want to follow the one true God. That being said, I think it’s only reasonable for me to want to follow my heavenly fathers instruction and by doing so, please Him. I think I should observe the holidays He has ordained and set-apart, not mans. Futhermore, I guess that I should observe the rest of the teachings that apply to me and that are written in the Old Testament. After all, as I understand it, they are for my own good and will bring health to my body and long life to me. So, unless you can show me where it says that I should not observe His commandments, or that they have been done away with, I will start on this path and try to help my family and friends see that this is what is pleasing to The Father. I looked in the New Testament to see what I could find anywhere where The Messiah might have said that the commandment were done away with or will be done away with and I only find that Matt. 5:17 says that they will not be done away with. Sorry for the length of my comment. Is my understanding correct. If so, please help me. May you and your family be blessed. Gordon
Gordon – keep reading! The whole of the Bible points to Christ, whether in anticipation in the OT, or as a witness in the NT. You will eventually see Christ foreshadowed in the requirements of the law, and that His life, death, and resurrection indeed does away with the need for certain aspects of the law. Note that there are actually 3 aspects to the law: moral, ceremonial, and civil – we only need to follow the moral law today. Salvation in Christ frees us from the curse and requirement of the law, freeing us up to obey God under the new covenant (see Ezekiel 36:22-27).
See Galatians 3 and Hebrews 9 for more specifics on the purpose of the law and on how Christ fulfilled it; but really, all of scripture testifies to these truths – not the least, in Matthew 5:17 where Jesus says “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
Blessings,
Lee
