On May 2, our family passed through a transition and into a new era, gaining a new family member. Raquel and I were already half way to being empty nesters. Our youngest son, Samuel David, moved out to live on his own in March of 2008. This act is of course normal for sons since as men, they are intended by God to eventually leave father and mother. Raquel and I raised both our sons for this purpose~so David’s move was the first step in fulfilling his calling as a man. Then on May 2, he took a second step, marrying his sweet heart, Alisha Jeanine Friske at Guglielmo’s Winery in Morgan Hill, California. David found in Alisha the ‘good thing’ and the ‘favor from the Lord’ Solomon wrote about, and so he took her as his bride; and thus, we gained a beautiful and godly daughter in law.
Their wedding was a long time in coming. David and Alisha first met in the church college group, when they were asked to lead worship together~so when they married they had known each other for five years. In August of 2007 they became an ‘official couple’ after serving on a short term mission trip to Zambia together. From that time they sought the Lord, and grew together in Him; and over time they became convinced they should marry. I had the privilege of officiating their wedding~and also of giving David a special charge as he began his life with his new bride~after they exchanged vows and rings. I must say, it was a glorious day, as Christ was exalted in many ways.
Our prayer for the newly weds is of course that our Lord will bless and keep them in His way as they begin their lives together.
It is the Lord Jesus after all, who must build the house~otherwise they who build it labor in vain (so Psalm 127 says). Both David and Alisha know this and desire it. Each also has the foundation needed personally to see this happen, for each grew up in Christ centered homes, where they were taught from an early age who Jesus is, why we need Him and how to know Him~and each, in due time, made their parents faith their own faith, following Jesus by faith.

As I consider these things I exclaim “What a heritage you both have in the Lord~and so, run with patience the race set before you, looking unto Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising it’s shame, and is now seated at the right hand of God!!”
As you look to Jesus, He will bear you on eagles wings through all of life’s trials as well as joys~for His glory and for your eternal and temporal good !!
God is so wonderful….God bless you all….wedding/marriage is a blessing from God….God bless.
